Paramedic – 911 Emergency Medical Services

Multiple Connecticut Locations | Canton • North Branford • Southbury

Join a Different Kind of EMS Team

Looking for a change of pace without stepping away from 911 EMS ?

Northeast Fire-Rescue (NEFR) is growing, and we're looking for motivated, experienced, and team-oriented  Paramedics to join our organization. NEFR provides professional staffing exclusively to 911 Fire and EMS systems , with opportunities available at multiple locations across Connecticut, including  Canton, North Branford, and Southbury .

Our Paramedics work directly alongside municipal and volunteer Fire/EMS agencies, becoming an integrated part of the departments and communities they serve.  No routine interfacility transports. No facility-to-facility work. Our focus is 911 emergency response.

With multiple locations, different EMS systems, and flexible opportunities, NEFR gives clinicians the ability to experience EMS beyond a single department while still becoming part of the teams and communities they serve.

Whether you're looking for a full-time position, additional per-diem opportunities, or simply a new environment to practice high-quality paramedicine,  NEFR offers an opportunity to do meaningful 911 work with a growing organization that values its people.

About Northeast Fire-Rescue

Northeast Fire-Rescue partners with Fire and EMS organizations throughout Connecticut to strengthen their operational readiness and ensure their communities have access to highly qualified emergency responders when they call 911.

Our team members aren't simply there to "fill a shift." They work alongside our partnering departments, becoming part of their teams and helping support their operations, culture, and mission.

Our commitment is simple:  provide exceptional people, deliver exceptional service, and help our partners provide the highest level of care to their communities.

About the Role

As an NEFR Paramedic, you'll serve as the highest-level medical provider on emergency calls and provide advanced prehospital care to patients experiencing medical, traumatic, and other time-sensitive emergencies.

You'll work alongside EMTs, firefighters, law enforcement, dispatchers, other Paramedics, and hospital teams to assess, stabilize, treat, and transport patients while making critical decisions in dynamic environments.

We're looking for clinicians who are confident in their abilities but remain  humble, coachable, dependable, and committed to being great teammates.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, Fire/EMS personnel, medical control, and receiving facilities.
  • Complete accurate, timely, and thorough electronic patient care reports.
  • Maintain readiness of assigned vehicles, medical equipment, medications, and supplies.
  • Safely lift, move, and assist patients and equipment.
  • Represent NEFR and our partnering departments with professionalism, integrity, and respect.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Current AHA BLS/CPR Certification
  • Current  AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
  • Current  AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
  • Valid driver's license
  • Current Connecticut Medical Control authorization, or ability to obtain required medical control
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with prehospital emergency medical services
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-stress and rapidly changing environments
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a 911 prehospital EMS system
  • Experience working alongside municipal, volunteer, or combination Fire/EMS departments
  • Strong clinical decision-making and patient-care skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations and public-safety partners
  • Dependable, professional, and team-oriented
  • Enthusiastic, adaptable, humble, and coachable
Why NEFR?

At Northeast Fire-Rescue, we're building more than a staffing company. We're building a team of Fire and EMS professionals who can strengthen the departments and communities we serve.

Working with NEFR provides the opportunity to:

  • Work exclusively within 911 Fire/EMS systems
  • Choose from opportunities at  multiple locations across Connecticut
  • Gain experience working within different EMS systems and communities
  • Work alongside experienced Fire, EMS, and public-safety professionals
  • Maintain and expand your ALS clinical experience
  • Join a growing organization with opportunities for professional and leadership development
  • Be part of a culture that values  teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement

If you're passionate about EMS, enjoy the challenge of 911 medicine, and want to work with an organization where strong clinicians and great teammates are valued,  we'd like to hear from you.
